MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - To welcome spring and to kick off Earth Day, the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department organized a community wide clean-up event on Saturday, April 19th.
Many children and seniors volunteered to join this event and help clean up local parks including Central Park and Ferguson Park.
"One of the biggest things is the environment and giving back to the community. It's important to come out to do this, but also to teach the next generation to keep doing it," said David Walsworth, a volunteer at the event.
More than 40 volunteers helped pick up litter and move branches and logs from blocking the trails.
