MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Construction on the temporary fire station inside the Service Center building off Okemos Road is approaching the final stages.

The kitchen area inside the Service Center building has been retrofitted with three additional rooms to serve as living quarters for working personnel.

The rooms which all have a window are awaiting finishing touches ranging from drywall, electric outlet covers, and paint.

Construction workers on site said they hope to start painting by the middle of next week.
