MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The "Strike Out For A Cause" Fundraiser was held this past weekend at the City Limits East Bowling Center in East Lansing.
The Fundraiser benefited the Meridian Township Community Resources Commission's Emergency Needs Fund, which helps residents with emergency needs such as evictions, utility shutoffs, prescriptions, and food.
Several residents came out to bowl, including four of Meridian Township's Planning Commissioners.
Suzanne Brouse, Chair of the CRC, was very pleased with the event.
"I think it's going great. We've probably got about 25-30 people that are bowling. But ever body seems to having a fun time, and we've also had some other contributions so I think it is going well for our first time," said Brouse.
"Strike Out For A Cause" was the first CRC fundraiser to be held at a bowling alley, and several lanes were sponsored by local businesses.
More than $1,000 was raised from the event for the Emergency Needs Fund.
