MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Nexcare Health Systems hosted more than 250 people at the 7th annual Caregiver Retreat. The retreat was free for caregivers who care for a loved one. They offered massages, manicures and facials, as well as breakfast and lunch.
"You need to take care of yourself in order to care for somebody else. So that's what this day is all about. We have educational sessions and meals, breakfast, lunch and a dessert and it's just a wonderful day for caregivers to be pampered," said Lori Brandenburg, Community Liaison for Nexcare Health Systems.
They also had tables full of different resources for the caregivers.
"We have home care, hospice, elder law, counseling services, assisted livings, home management companies that can help them remodel their homes to help accommodate them at home and we have retail vendors that are selling different books that are written on how to care give, jewelry vendors, snacks spices, American Heart Association, some of the senior centers. So we have a variety of organizations for them to get information to help care for their loved one," said Brandenburg.
The event was available for anyone who regularly assists one of their loved ones.
