OKEMOS - Property spaces within the area are now being renovated and used in order for businesses to move to more accessible locations.
The Haslett RediCare that was once located at Haslett Village Square has been relocated to a newer location on Grand River Avenue. The RediCare is now open to the public.
Two health-related businesses will also be opening in the Okemos area. These include a dentist office as well as DaVita Dialysis Clinic.
According to Peter Menser, Meridian Township Associate Planner, Dr. Douglas Hinterman, who currently owns a practice in Lansing, wanted to move his practice closer to home.
After finding property located on Hagadorn Road, he asked the Meridian Township Community Planning & Development Department if he could renovate and modernize the six-year vacant barn for a new dentist office.
"It's a really cool project, turning what looks just like a regular old barn, into a dentist office," said Menser.
Menser also said a site plan is currently being put together for this property.
DaVita Dialysis Clinic will be opening to a location between Mount Hope and Hagadorn in a new office space. The office is located next to the Waterbury Place Apartments.
There is also a new business located in the downtown area of Okemos called H2O Hydroponics that took over the former White Brothers Music and CC Greenery space. This store helps accomodate indoor growing and gardening, offering supplies to provide for a soil-less way of growing plants.
"They are all dynamic projects. I'm happy to see any property get re-developed," Menser said.
