MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Monday, March 10th marked the start for Haslett High School and Okemos High School spring sports.
Both schools have track, lacrosse, softball, golf, girls soccer, baseball and girl's tennis. Okemos will also have girl's water polo teams. Teams will be holding their practices indoors until all of the snow finally melts.
Okemos High School's Varsity Softball Coach, Chrissy Schoonover, talked about this season's goals. "First would be to win the league, that's always our first goal, second would be to win districts. I think that they were hungry that they got to the districts final last year and they really want to win it this year."
Team Captain, Cailtin Meade also has high hopes and said, "this year we're not as young as we were last year so I feel like we can definitely have a lot of improvement and everyone stepping up and filling their roles, and hopefully we'll have a winning season this year."
Last year they were 4th in the league and lost to East Lansing in the district finals. It is shaping up to be an exciting Spring sports season.
