OKEMOS - The Okemos High School Boys Varsity Swim and Dive Team will compete Friday, 21, 2014 for the Blue Division All-Conference Swim Prelims.
After their last victory against Jackson with a score of 119 to 67, the swim team is currently seven and zero in their conference play.
The team has been extensively training to maintain their record and reach their goal by practicing for an hour and 15 minutes four mornings a week as well as two-hours in the afternoon, on top of a two-hour practice on Saturday.
Head Coach, Patrick Saucedo, says the boys have the same vision and goals and this really showed when they had their toughest meeting against Grand Ledge.
"We have to work hard and we have to work a lot. What I always tell people is, we don't live underwater, so we have to spend a lot of time in the water," said Saucedo.
Saucedo believes with the good attitude the team carries, they will do well in the prelims. Following the next day, Saturday 22, 2014, will be the State Championship Finals.
The second group of swimmers who have all qualified to compete have an additional two-weeks of training and practice.
Teams within the Division two conference are Haslett, Jackson, St. John, Grand Ledge, Holt, Dewitt, and East Lansing.
