MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the last Zoning Board of Appeals meeting two variance requests that affect local businesses were passed unanimously.
ZBA Case No. 14-01-08-1 which involved the local Walmart, had a variance request granted that allows more than one wall sign on the front face of the building.
The next decision from the meeting and arguably the one with the biggest impact, was ZBA Case No. 14-02-12-1 regarding a request to construct an MSUFCU Credit Union east of Jolly Oak Road.
The variance request which was granted gives MSUFCU the ability to build a facility with 6 drive through lanes and the leeway to exceed the maximum number of parking spaces permitted by the Code of Ordinances.
