MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center, here in Meridian Township is giving people a chance to stay active this winter with snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. Park Naturalist, Kati Adams, runs the program and teaches the activities. She explained that "The trails are multi-use in Meridian Township so you can ski on all of the trails, you can snowshoe on all of the trails, you can just walk on the trails if you want to."
The Nature Center has a wide variety of gear that is available to all ages. Skiing and snowshoeing are also great ways to get some exercise and a nice break from hiding indoors.
According to Kati Adams, "A lot of times in the winter we get shut up inside the house because it's just so cold. We know that this winter it's been a little extra frigid, but it is great exercise. Snowshoeing and skiing is great exercise, because you don't have to go for very long to get a great workout in, it warms up the body and makes it feel not so cold outside, so its just a great opportunity to get yourself out of the house whether the sun's shining or not."
