MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township officials are in the process of organizing a curbside pick-up program of fallen branches and storm damage debris as a result of the December ice storm.
The start of the program has been delayed due to the recent heavy snowfall that buried most of the debris. A new time frame of pick-up has not been set.
Residents are asked to place brush between the sidewalk and the road for pick-up. The size limit of branches has been increased to 8 inches in diameter and 6 foot lengths.
Smaller branches and limbs can also be dropped off at the Christmas Tree Recycling sites at Wonch Park (4555 Okemos Rd), Nancy Moore Park (2100 Gaylord C. Smith Court), or Applegate Park (2055 Towner Rd) until the end of January.
On January 16, Granger will begin picking up storm debris with street-side trash collection in Ingham County:
• Brush and tree debris should be no longer than 4 feet and less than 2 inches in diameter. For materials that do not fit in the Curby cart, tie with string or twine into 12 inch bundles.
• Bundles need to be tagged. Tags can be picked up or mailed for $1 each by calling a Granger customer service representative at 517-372-2800.
