MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Dec. 11 Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, the board discussed three different variances.
After the board studied the variances requested by Terry Baker, they understood how minor it was and voted to approve it 5-0
The next variance was also approved with a vote of 4-1 in favor, approving a one foot 6 inch request for a porch.
And finally the board denied the variance to build a wall that would be 9 feet tall, when the township only allows a max of 6 feet tall.
Commissioner Carol Ohlrogge explains that she is very strict when it comes to sticking to the rules.
"We have 8 criteria, and I get information on Friday night about each case that we are going to be addressing the next Wednesday. I study that and I study my criteria, and then I listen to what is brought in," said Ohlrogge.
