MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Township Board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7, there was a public hearing about the proposed Residence Inn by Marriott.
Air photos, a site plan, and rendering of the proposed building were displayed for all to see.
The eneral manager said the inn will cater to Michigan State University and those who go on business trips, as well as flood and fire victims and people that come to the area to find a home, but need temporary housing.
Trustee Angela Wilson said, "I just think this is a great opportunity to offer something to the people who some, may be only here for a little while and leave. But a lot of these people that will be staying at a facility like this are going to be Meridian Township residents."
This facility will have an area of 72,000 square feet and a total of 84 rooms. There will be a space for meetings as well as an outdoor barbeque area for guests.
More information will be given about the inn at the next Township Board meeting on Nov. 19.
