MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Michigan Energy Options (MEO) and Meridian Township announced the formal launch of the Regional Energy Baseline Study in Mid-Michigan on Monday, October 28th at Soldan's Feeds and Pet Supplies in Okemos MI. The study is part of the Mid-Michigan Program for Greater Sustainability, which is a multi-million dollar HUD funded community initiative currently underway in the Greater Lansing Area.

The study is attempting to establish a baseline for energy consumption throughout the Michigan/Grand River Avenue Corridor, between the Capitol Building in Lansing to downtown Webberville. The study area follows the corridor, and extends 1/4 mile north and south. In order to obtain the most accurate assessment our team is analyzing consumption data from multiple sources; modeled data from CBECS and RBECS, in-person building audits using the Commercial Energy Asset Score and Home Energy Score, actual utility bill information from participating consumers, and aggregated consumption information directly from the utility provider. The aggregated utility data will be compared against the other figures that were obtained from the other sources, to provide a clear picture of energy consumption throughout the corridor.

Several area businesses including Soldan's, Playmakers, and Sign-o-Rama have all signed up as participants in this ground-breaking study. The launch took place with a Formal and Comprehensive Energy Audit of Soldan's Feeds and Pet Supplies with a press event that followed and outlined the finer details of the study and the Mid-Michigan Program for Greater Sustainability and the impact that it hopes to have. There were interview opportunities with MEO directors, Township officials, and participating businesses following the press event.
