MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Tuesday, Oct. 9, a few children in Meridian Township saw a big, red truck with bright, flashing lights outside their windows.
The Meridian Township Fire Department showed up in front of their houses, but it wasn't because of an emergency.
These three kids submitted their names into a drawing at the Meridian Township Halloween Open House and were lucky enough to get their names drawn.
"It's always good when we are able to pull up in front of a house and we see the citizens coming out when they're happy and it's not an emergency situation," said Lieutenant Ken Phinney with the Meridian Township Fire Department. "It's always good when you're bringing joy to the kids."
Not only did each child get to take a look inside of the fire truck, but they each got their own, little surprise.
And the more houses the firemen went to, the bigger the surprise toy fire truck that the child received got as well.
Overall, it was a day full of smiles and brought some joy into these children's lives.
