MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Planning Commission meeting on October 14th, a proposed Special Use Permit for a plasma center was presented. The center would be located in the Carriage Hills Shopping Center on the Northwest corner of Lake Lansing Road and Hagadorn Road.
Some residents are concerned about the cliental that would be attracted to a plasma center.
While DTN owns the building, it would be occupied by CSL Plasma, an international company, who was not represented at the meeting.
There is an elementary school, residential neighborhoods and businesses located near the proposed building.
Concerned residents spoke up during the public comment section, making it clear that more thought needs to go into this location.
"I like where I live because its very family friendly. I watch the kids walking back and forth to school , I see runners, I see walkers, young kids, its not that far from the schools. There's a crossing guard, they walk by themselves. Do we really want 500 more additional people in that area? Do we really want our children being subjected to that?"
The Planning Commission decided to leave the public hearing open until the November 18th, in order to get additional information needed about this proposal.
