MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Farmers' Market was particularly high energy this weekend.
They celebrated their 40th anniversary with music, refreshments, reusable commemorative tote bags, and even a bounce house for the kids.
Sandy Stone, the last founding member still attending, discussed her husbands influence on the market, "He and the older two children started to come over her in the parking lot in 1974. And from then he just loved it and the market grew and he was very instrumental in helping the expansion and development of the market."
A ceremony for Stone and fellow market merchant Suzy Threadgold's late husbands took place later that day dedicating a Red Maple Tree in honor of their contributions to the market.
