MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Within minutes of one of Michigan's busiest shopping centers is one of the best canoeing and kayaking rivers in the area. Flowers, wildlife and fresh air greet whoever is lucky enough to paddle this stretch of river.

Sadly, fallen trees and branches have made it difficult to navigate.
