HASLETT - Renovations are near for Haslett Public Schools after voters approved the building site and sinking fund millage back in August.

"Just like at home, you need to take care of the infrastructure," said Mike Duda, Superintendent. "Things such as roofs, windows, doors, parking lots, sidewalks, and included in this whole proposal was the performing arts center.".

The performing arts center will be getting a 3 million dollar face lift.

"I think its great because it offers a lot more options for the school to do a lot more musicals with the fly spaces that's coming in," said Patrick Harney, Haslett High School student. "Also everything that's in there is 20 years old so it needs to be updated, and modernized."

"Were talking about adding some new seating, carpeting, and obviously new paint, a new stage area, a new shell areas coming into there," said Duda

The millage will increase up to 1.25 mills, making that a total revenue for 2013, $650,000. Based off of a 10 year program, so now until 2022.

"I'm very thankful to the community, and to the parents in this community for supporting Haslett Public Schools," said Duda. "As I said prior to the vote, this will insure that our schools are well cared for the next 20 years."

Superintendent Duda says that the money will be coming in yearly. So things like roofing and sidewalks repairs are done in phases.

Duda also says that renovations to the auditorium will take place next summer, and any technology would need to be fundraised. The millage does not support technology.
