EAST LANSING - The Spartans kicked off the football season this weekend in Spartan Stadium with their game against Western Michigan University. The game started at 8 o'clock Friday night but was put on delay at 9:03 when lightning struck. A 30 minute delay is mandated by NCAA rules when lighting is detected with six miles of an open air stadium, but the game resumed at 10. MSU held the lead until the game ended at 12:36 in the morning, favoring MSU 26 to 13.
