MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among those age 5-34 in the U.S. according to the Center for Disease Control. According to the National Safety Council though wearing a safety belt can increase odds of survival, during a crash, up to 50%.
Lieutenant Greg Frenger of Meridian Township Police has more to say on the subject. Wearing a safety belt is a matter of safety for all and is about more than just collecting fines.
