MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Each year, The National Council on Aging sets a theme during September. This year, the theme is 'Senior Centers: Experts at Living Well.' During September, Senior Centers across the country will hold events to enrich, come together, and celebrate the lives of Seniors.

Locally, the Meridian Senior Center, located on 4000 Okemos Road, plans to hold events throughout the whole month. The first one is a V.A. presentation which takes place on September 5th. Other activities include a 'you-gave, now-save' presentation, a fall open house, and a 2 day health festival.

During the 2 day health festival vendors will be around to answer questions, a pharmacy to educate people on what medicine to take, and a massage table.

"This is really a way for Senior Centers to highlight what they do to accomodate that age group," said Cherie Wisdom, Meridian Senior Center Coordinator.

Events at the Meridian Senior Center are free and open to the public.
