MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - You may have recently encountered some trouble passing through the river trail in the Meridian Riverfront Park.
A log jam made the trail impassable when it created a scowerhole next to the riverbank right by the trail.
Nicholas Sanchez, an Assistant Park Naturalist for the Meridian Parks and Recreation Department stated, “The process of removing the log jam, the log revetment that they built where they took logs that were involved in the log jam and anchored them to the river bank so that's actually keeping the water from causing more erosion along the bank there."
The team then re-dug the bank and planted some fresh plants along the trail, including shrubs and wildflowers native to the area.
