MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - McGruff the Crime Dog and police officers hit the streets in Meridian Township on August 6th. They were visiting local neighborhoods all taking part in the National Night Out Celebration.

National Night Out- America's Night Out Against Crime is hosted by the non-profit organization National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and began in 1984 as effort to create and promote various crime prevention programs. By familiarizing community members with their neighbors, as well as the police officers patrolling the neighborhoods, the National Night Out program aims to bolster community camaraderie and send a message to criminals that the residents are fighting back.
