MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On July 24th, the first of three tax foreclosed property auctions took place at the Lansing Center. Over 65% of the individually listed parcels sold, which is more than we have seen in the past. This helped Ingham County and Land Bank recoup more than $1,300,000 in taxes and cost.
"The minimum bid on those properties was the back taxes that were owed, so that's where the bids would have to start. Of those one hundred and eight properties, seventy of them sold for either the minimum bid or in some cases were bid up," said Jeff Burdick, Executive Director of the Ingham County Land Bank.
There will be additional properties at the second auction on August 24.
