MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Wednesday July 31st, a crew of workers from the Township Public Works Department and Parks & Recreation Department worked in the rain to install a new piece of art. This sculpture sits in the median of the intersection of Mt.Hope and Okemos Roads. This piece of art was a donation to the Township. It is a metal sculpture that was made in 1978 by former MSU Professor and local artist Mel Leiserowitz.
Meridian Township Associate Planner Peter Menser had this to say about the location, "We choose that location because it high visibility, there is not much threat of vandalism, its hard to get to on fast. I hope the community likes it."
This spot will be the permanent local for the piece of art and will be bolted down in the next week. They are still deciding on date for a dedication ceremony for the piece.
