Meridian Township Becoming More
Connected

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Some updates to the pathway system in Meridian Township are in store. After some concern that the bridge over the Red Cedar River by Wonch Park was too narrow for pedestrians, plans are in place to widen the 4 foot sidewalk to 8 feet.

"It gets pretty slippery [especially in the winter] and it's pretty narrow," said Ray Severy, Director of Public Works and Engineering in Meridian Township.

Other projects include completing the link from Cornell Road to Dobie Road and connecting the East end of Raby Road to the Inter Urban Pathway out to Marsh Road. Those two projects should start within the next month.

Although projects are springing up in earnest around Meridian Township, one avid cyclist would like to see Okemos Road by the Inter Urban Pathway have added caution.

"The crossing at Okemos Road is pretty critical and there's alot of people crossing there. There's no lights and there's not much of anything," said Tim Potter, Manager of the MSU Bikes Service Shop and Adminstrator of the Facebook Group 'Friends of the Meridian Township Pathways.'
