MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Okemos Library is taking one step closer towards their building renovation project.
Officials will award bids for construction on Tuesday, August 13th.
Building contractors can place bids on different parts of the renovation project up until August 13th. Meridian Township Public Works Administration and Engineering Director Raymond Severy says bids won't necessarily be awarded to whoever provides the cheapest option, adding he thinks the updates will be a positive for residents.
"From the library's standpoint, I think it's going make their operation a lot more efficient," Severy said. "They've actually designed the space the way they'd like to have it laid out for the new library and it's gonna give the patrons of the library a bigger area now."
Severy said the Township hopes to begin construction on the renovations a week or two after Labor Day.
