MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Across the United States, gas prices are up an average of 15 cents since last week, according to NBC reports. The costs are expected to rise another five to 10 cents before peaking.
Gas prices in the Meridian Township area have consistently been between three and a half and four dollars per gallon. The national average for a gallon of gas on July 17th was $3.65 per gallon. With the cost of driving high, some local residents have looked for other ways to get around such as biking.
"My car burns gas and makes me fat. Mike bike burns calories. It makes me healthy," said Denny's Central Park Bicycles sales associate Tommy Poole.
