MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township board discussed medical marijuana at their last board meeting. Some members of the board said dispensaries should not be regulated if they are permitted by the state. Others said the topic should be left to the state government entirely. Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus cited a lack of interest on the topic from the public.
"And from the absolute lack of interest in this as we've had virtually no speakers on this we've had no letters come in about this issue tells us that actually this is not an issue of widespread community concern. Excessive restrictions don't serve the public good," said Dreyfus.
The consensus of the Board was to continue work on a Medical Marijuana Ordinance.
