MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Michigan's High School Football All Star Game took place this Saturday at Grand Valley State University.
The game pitted some of the best players from the east side of the state against the most talented players from the west.
Three athletes from the greater Lansing area suited up for the western squad.
Haslett's Sam Rathbun, Okemos kicker, Dong Kim, and East Lansing reciever, Javon Haines.
After kick-off, East quickley scored the first tochdown of the game.
Dearborn Edsel Ford's Leonte Degreaffenreid had the reception from quarterback Cameron Thomas, hailing from South Lyon East.
On the very next possession West took the ball down into field goal range and Dong Kim finished off the drive, making it seven to three east lead.
East would go onto score two more touchdons and west couldn't manage to score for the rest of the game.
Kim missed two field goals, one in the fourth quarter, but the Chieftain kicker said that he won't dewll on it.
"I just wish I could have done a little bit better, but you know, it happens to everyone and you just have to move on and you just have to grow and you just have to get better and better every day."
Trojan wide reciever, Javon Haines, also realizes that this game was not about personal statistics.
"This game is, it's all about fun. It's all about just sharing, and uh, I wasn't really coming in here being a selfish player. I wanted to learn, help my teammates out and um, I didn't really worry about getting the ball that much."
But Haines said there was personal pride in representing his community.
"It's a blessing to be out here representing the west side of the state because the west side of the state is kind of in the shadows of the east. So um, just to put this west jersey on, just to put it on for all the guys who have played in this game before, and just East Lansing, it's a blessing, it's truly a blessing. "
Kim said he wasn't taking the experience for granted either.
"You know it's a blessing and it's awesome that I represent Okemos and stuff like that. Not a lot of players from Okemos get to experience this, and I'm greatful and I'm blessed that, uh Jack Walla-, Coach Wallace allowed me to come here."
