MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Haslett School District has called for a special election on August 6th, 2013.
The election will feature one proposal, which is a building and site sinking fund tax levy. Voters from both Haslett and Bath Township will be eligible to vote in the election, along voters from Williamstown Township.
Meridian Township Deputy Clerk, Joan Horvath explained why the circumstances allowed for an odd-year election.
"The state passed a law a couple of years ago that all school board elections have to go to even year November, but a school can call a special anytime on the four regular election days, which is February, May, August, or November for a mileage," said Joan Horvath, Meridian Township Deputy Clerk.
Potential voters must be registered at least 30 days before the election if they wish to vote.
