LEAP Holds a Meeting on Youth
Entrepreneurship

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A community conversation about youth entrepreneurship education was recently held.

The event at Williamston Elementary School was hosted by the Williamston Rotary Club. The goal was to provide entrepreneurship education to community leaders and educators.

It was the first meeting of many in the coming weeks. The program created by the Generation E Institute is sponsored by the Lansing Economic Area Partnership also known as LEAP.

"We had a lot of great ideas and some good places to start," said Sara Graham, talent coordinator of LEAP. "The whole goal would be to educate facilitators and then have them teach students the ins and outs of entrepreneurship and then have students write business plans and have students present them at a region wide entrepreneurship showcase in the spring."

The program is a hands on experience where students learn appropriate business skills and social skills, participate in business and finance planning and eventually build their own business idea.
