UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A recent township-wide survey was recently conducted and has shed some light on several new finding.
The Meridian Township recently conducted a survey of apartment residents and managers to examine the general attitudes and conceptions surrounding recycling in the township.
The survey which was completed in February revealed a strong interest in expanding recycling options particularly in multi-family apartment complexes where one-third of the township resides.
While a handful of apartment complexes do offer recycling, tow-third of the survey respondents lived in apartments that did not.
"Right now there are no requirements to provide recycling and that's something that I think the board is interested in looking at is sort of policies that might promote or enforce greater recycling . But I think the general preference would be to make it a voluntary type of thing," said Township Recycling and Energy Coordinator, LeRoy Harvey.
