UPDATE:
HASLETT - Softball inside of a gym? It doesn't really seem normal, but with he weather here in Michigan, Haslett's softball team doesn't have much of an option.
"It's quite a bit different inside, but we still have some advantages that we get to do this," said Dan Ruhstorfero, Varsity softball coach. "Obviously is what we prefer and wish the weather would change."
"It's hard to run situations just because we don't have the sixty feet between every base or the outfield that we need to do stuff in," said Paige Vanatta, Varsity softball player.
The team normally practices outside, but with the weather and the conditions of the field they're unable to do some because something as simple as the bounce of a ball is thrown off.
"The balls bounce all over the place. You're not used to those types of hops when you're in the inside," said Christine Woods, Varsity softball player. So the small area doesn't give you much room to work on the whole field."
Although practicing limits the teams ability to do what they normally do, it does have some advantages...
"It's kind of nice that we get to practice in here because we're not freezing when we go outside and stuff like that."
The crazy weather comes as now surprise and it's something the teams used to.
"We live in Michigan, we know we have to deal with this," said Ruhstorfero.
"Last year was kind of a fluke where it was eighty degrees and we got to be outside a lot sooner than normal," said Ruhstorfero. Once we get outside I think the girls have a lot more energy."
