UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Depending on where International students came from, they may or may not know about the concept of public safety in America. For example, using crosswalks and the knowledge of only crossing roads when the cross sign is lit.

The Hobby Lobby intersection on Grand River near the Super 8 Hotel is just one of many dangerous spots near campus, in which many accidents have occurred.

"I think they just observe what other people are doing," said Amber Cordell, Coordinator of International Students Orientation at MSU. "They are looking around to know what to do here, and so it's really important that we as U.S. students and staff follow the rules as well."

Cordell said students arrive early and stay in hotels since residence halls are not open yet. This is when she thinks her students are involved in traffic accidents because it is before orientation. She recommends for International students to wait to arrive when they are scheduled, so that her staff can help them out as much as they can.
