• Sister Act the Musical: Interview with Hollis Resnik

UPDATE: EAST LANSING, MI - On their national tour, East Lansing marked the next stop for the broadway show, "Sister Act the Musical". It performed the week of Feb. 12 through Feb. 17 on the Cobb Hall stage in the Wharton Center.

Once the house lights dimmed and the audience fell silent, Mother Superior took her place on the stage.

Hollis Resnik is best known for her roles in national tours of broadway musicals, "Les Miserables," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," and "Thoroughly Modern Millie." She is casted as Mother Superior in "Sister Act the Musical."

The character of Mother Superior is not a typical role that Resnik plays but she says she has grown to love it.

"I usually play characters with weight and strength to them but it's a great part though," Resnik said. "I really enjoy playing the part because of the journey."

Acting for over thirty years and based out of Chicago, Resnik graduated with a degree in theater from Dennison University, near Columbus, Ohio. She spent her twenties performing familiar classic musicals such as "Bye Bye Birdie," "Oklahoma," and "Camelot" in dinner theater while working in a Shakespeare company.

"I've always wanted to do this; I've always wanted to perform and tell great stories and work with other wonderful artists," Resnik said. "I've had that opportunity, and I've been very very blessed."

Her favorite part of "Sister Act the Musical" is the last scene between Deloris and Mother Superior when they come together and work out their differences.

"The cast is great, the music is great, the voices are great, and it's a very, very funny show," Resnik said. "I can't recommend it highly enough."
