UPDATE:
OKEMOS, MI - Fundraising is moving forward on the Okemos Library renovation project.
To make the changes needed to the library, a total of $300,000 needs to be raised by March 31.
The construction phase on the library is set to begin in mid-August due to the popularity of the summer reading program.
President of Friends of Okemos Library, Cecelia Kramer said, "The summer reading program is so beloved in this township and at this library, so we want to be sure that we are available to have the entire summer."
Changes will not only be made on the inside, but on the outside as well. There will be better parking and safer traffic movement. As well as a new entrance in to the library.
Residents are encouraged to get involved and help with fundraising. This can be done by simply tossing spare change in to the change jar at the desk, dropping off or mailing checks to:
