EAST LANSING - Suburban Ice Arena was packed for Meridian's two high school hockey teams. The Eastside Stars and Okemos Chiefs met for a 3:30 matchup on Saturday, each with only one loss in the league.
The final score was 3-0 although it was a closer game than the score indicated. The Stars controlled the puck for a little bit more time and were also able to get their shots on net, whereas the Chiefs struggled to get the puck through the defense.
The Stars, now 9-1, control their destiny within the league; if they win the rest of their games, they will be league champions. The Chiefs drop to 6-2 in the league.
