Health Obesity Campaign

UPDATE: LANSING - The Michigan Department of Community Health launched a Michigan Healthier Tomorrow Campaign.

This statewide message was released to help encourage and motivate Michiganders to make healthy life changes for a better future.

By pledging to participate in the campaign to lose ten percent of body weight, participants will receive a free getting started kit in the mail.

"There are a lot of very important health benefits and especially with obesity being related to so many chronic diseases," said MDCH Public Information Officer Angela Minicuci. "Ten percent is a really good way to lower your risk of those diseases.”

Health risks are not the only issue dealing with obesity, medical costs are impacted too.

“We need to get in control of our health to reduce these costs and make our economy better in Michigan,” said Minicuci.

There is a growing list of partners working with the Michigan Department of Community Health including associations, businesses, organizations, companies and non profits.

Specifically the YMCA has been a strong partner promoting the campaign within the Y to build a healthier community.

The Michigan Healthier Tomorrow Campaign has already hit ten thousand pledges in Michigan.
