UPDATE:
OKEMOS - The "Renew the Okemos Library, it's Overdue" campaign is continuing fundraisers to raise money for the renovations.
There have been well over 100 contributors so far for the project. The renovation fund just hit the $60,000 mark.
Maureen Hirten, Director of Capital Area District Library said, "I am excited looking at the plan. The quiet reading room and the expanded chidren's area. Also it's a little thing, but I like the idea of the outlets. People being able to plug in their laptops. Having everything right here. I am very excited about a lot of little details."
The thermometer banner shows that the library is past the half way mark in fundraising efforts. Renovations are expected to begin this upcoming summer after the summer reading program.
If you have any interest in helping build the library, there are still opportunities to host a fundraising event. For more information on how to help, call Friends of the Okemos Library Cecelia Kramer at (517) 349-3297 or contact her by email at cremark1@sbcglobal.net.
