UPDATE: LANSING - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest more than $25 million on four corridors in the Great Lansing and East Lansing areas, according to MDOT.

"Road work has already begun on 1-496. Clemens road is down to one lane as of now," said Kari Arend, MDOT Representative.

The majority of the projects will begin after school lets out for Michigan State University students. The projects include M-99 (Martin Luther King Boulevard), US-127 (bridge work and auxiliary lanes), Michigan Avenue, and M-43 (Grand River) which will affect the township the most.

Grand River's construction includes resurfacing of the roadways, along with intersection improvements and traffic signal updates, according to MDOT.

In addition to those improvement there will be a added 8-foot-wide pedestrian path on both sides of M-43 between Bogue Street and Brookfield Drive, just east of Hagadorn.

"The construction will definitely affect the township. Especially business along Grand River," said Raymond Severy, Public Works & Engineering Director.

During construction at least one lane of traffic will be open in each direction on M-43. Access to business and resident will be maintained at all times during the project, said Arend.

"One good thing about this project is that we're coming in making corrections to the corridors and doing it within one construction season," Arend.
