UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township is made up of 32 square miles and is one township divided by zip codes because there are no major cities within the township.
Meridian includes the census designated places: Haslett and Okemos.
Meridian Township Drafting Manager Jay Graham says the township is a hot spot for people to settle ideal to raise a family. Meridian has good neighborhoods, great parks, the economy is strong, it is environmentally friendly plus there are still residential developments taking place.
Jay Graham said, "Obviously the more people you have, the more you can get in grants, funding for roads and schools. In Meridian that number is growing and not going down like the rest of the state. Geographically located by Michigan State University and the state capital, which tends to lead to our continued growth."
Population also determines the size of the voting district so by the population increasing, voting changes.
"Meridian Township has always held its own. It's always grown with the market so I believe we are doing very well," said Graham.
