EAST LANSING, MI - MSU Wrestling loses 22-12 in their home opener against No. 17 Edinborough.
Edinborough strongly announced their presence at Jenison Field House as the Spartans matched up against some of the best college wrestlers in the country.
The Fighting Scots had the Spartans tied up at first, but they managed to escape a few losses in close matches, the match score now tied.
Edinborough would win that match 6-3 after three rounds.
MSU would hang on though through the middle of the met, beating Edinborough with wins from true freshman Jordan Wohlfert and junior Michael McClure, who is currently the No. 12 wrestler in the nation.
Freshman Jordan Wohlfert had a big night defeating Patrick Jennings for his first career home dual match win.
It was a close match between Wohlfert and Jennings through the first overtime, but Wohlfert dominated quickly in the second OT.
The Spartans struggled there after losing the next three matches with Edinborough wins from Kory Mines, fifth-ranked A.J. Schopp and Mitchell Port.
Spartans lose 22-12.
