UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township fireworks celebration took off over Central Park South on Monday July 4th, 2011.

Nearly 500 people gathered around central park to celebrate the holiday. Residents set up picnic tables and chairs, settled in with board games, sandwiches and pasta salad as they waited for the township’s annual fireworks display to begin. By the time darkness fell over the park, the families had plenty of company. People flocked to the park and the surrounding areas Monday night, creating a party like atmosphere.

This year's fireworks celebration was co-sponsored by Meijer, Douglas J Salon and Spa, Meridian Plumbing Cooling Heating Remodeling and Meridian Township.
