UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Joe Burton rides his bike a lot.
"Every day, 7 days a week. It gets me from point A to point B and sometimes its faster biking than it is getting into your car to go to the store," said Joe Burton, resident of Meridian Township.
People like joe that depend on their bikes for transportation appreciate the bike racks around town.
"I like em because you can lock it up and its right next to where you gotta go," said Burton.
The Township passed an ordinance in 2010 making new and renovated buildings to provide bike racks to their customers.
"It was established to help promote healthy lifestyles and activities. Where people can bike or drive something like that. Especially on a short term trip," said Rick Brown, Associate Planner of Meridian Township.
Businesses can tack the bike rack onto their construction costs or apply for a grant.
"In order to apply for the grant you will need to be a business in clinton, eaton or ingham county you can be a non-profit organization or you can be a school. We decided to focus on those three areas because that is where the traffic is, said Julie Powers, Executive Director of Mid-Meac.
As for Joe, he'll continue to bike and use bike racks, despite the chilly weather.
"It doesnt bother me. Rain snow, winter, doesnt matter," said Burton.
