UPDATE:
OKEMOS - On Friday October 19, 2012 the Home Depot on Newman road held its annual car chopping competition in honor of the Michigan State vs. Michigan game.
The event featured three high school bands, vendors from Home Depot, MSU football alumni football, and former hockey coach Ron Mason.
"But the main event is the Great Divide," said Frank Belknap Home Depot's manager. "What we do is take a car from a local chop shop, this year we have a cut less car, and we use a 12 gage reciprocating saw from DeWalt to cut it in half," said Meridian Township firefighter Ken Phinney.
The Meridian Township Fire Department defeated the Wolverines by almost two minutes. Meridian came in with a time of two minutes and ten seconds, Ann Arbor had a time of four minutes and two seconds.
The Meridian Township Fire Department will continue as the 7th year champions of the Great Divide.
