Thon

UPDATE: OKEMOS - James Galloway, Eaton County, is a person with Parkinsons. Galloway said,"I think it helps a lot with the people who have Parkinsons to see all these people coming out to support them. You're gonna need help from your family and your friends and anyone around you that can. It's nice to see a huge group like this, it's amazing."

The walk was sponsored by the Michigan Parkinsons Foundation. "The Michigan Parkinsons Foundation sponsors walks, talks, and support groups all over the state of Michigan promoting education, helping our patients to learn more about the disease process, getting together and giving them experience from someone who's been there and being able to understand things better," said Denise VanEtten, Nurse Coordinator at Michigan State University.

Walkers from Woodhaven, Alpena, St. Johns all the way to Philadelphia came out to support. The event raised over $31,000 in proceeds that will go towards developing education and support groups in the greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan area.
