UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Although it may not be construction season, orange barrells have still be spotted in Meridian Township.

The Home Owners Association and Okemos Schools expressed their concerns about students crossing Kinawa Drive to get to Chippawa Middle School.

The Township Board put this project on the master plan this past summer and construction began two weeks ago.

It will go from Okemos road to just west of Channing Way on the south side of Kinawa Drive.

"It will be a big improvement the residents that walk alot, we do have alot of people that walk in the township and so now instead of having to cross kinawa and along the north side, they can stay on the south side if they want to," said Raymond Severy.

The set date of competition is the first of November.
