UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A worn down bridge in Meridian Township may be in for a facelift.
The Ingham County Road Commission is proposing to replace the Van Atta Road Bridge next to the Harris Nature Center.
They are also going to make adjustments to the roadway approaching the bridge.
Construction is set to begin in March of 2013. But before anything is closed off, permits have to approved to begin the project.
"The issues we're dealing with are both related to wetlands and flood planes because that is a low area through there. And they're required to wetland and flood plane permits from both the state and the township," said Rick Brown, associate planner with the Meridian Township Planning Department.
The Township is looking to make a decision about the permits by November first.
