Meridian Township Managed Deer Harvest 2012

Meridian Township Managed Deer
Harvest 2012

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The 2012 Managed Deer Harvest runs from October 1 and until December 31 and is being launched in response to the numerous complaints from residents regarding the increase in deer and car collisions, damage to personal property and concern for public health.

"We have way too many deer. In the winter time I will have about 20 deer in my backyard," says hunter Mike Lewis.

The harvest is not however, open to the general public. Only Meridian Township residents are allowed to participate in the harvest, and each hunter must have been approved and experienced.

And after this story was created, a notice went out to hunters saying that bow hunting on Land Preservation Property has been suspended until the Land Preservation Ordinance is amended by the Township Board. Hunting is still allowed on the other selected Township properties as planned.

ORIGINAL STORY: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Its hunting season and area hunters are ready for the 2nd Township-wide managed deer harvest.
